Yarden

Here is something fun I have found about names of things. We all know about the Jordan River, but how many of us think what the name means? When we start breaking it down we will have the word ירדן- we remove the suffix ן and we are left with the verbal root י.ר.ד- to go down. If we think about it the Yarden is the river that flows down from a high place in Israel to the lowest place in the world- the Dead Sea. And if we are already on the topic of the Dead Sea, its name in Hebrew is Yam HaHmelach- the Sea of Salt, the irony is that salt is actually a life giving substance that if we do not have it in our systems we can die. This shows us how amazing our creator is; even through a death he gives life.
