Duet 22:5

"A woman shall not wear an article of a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment; for whosoever doeth these things is an abomination unto YHWH your God." Duet 22:5

The word used in the first part is כלי which can mean weapon, clothing and any tool of work a man would use (this can also mean a gun today). The text then uses women's clothing but uses a general word שמלה that is used in the Bible for both men and women. This was probably done because it was the most distinct thing that women had. In truth the two words are parallels and are related to both parties (this is very common in biblical Hebrew). The text is saying both men and women are not to wear the opposite's sex clothing, jewelry and tools.
